Excavation, reclamation, and return to productive land.
Fooy's physical work is not limited to housing. Land restoration is a proposed foundational development pillar. We aim to evaluate degraded or disturbed sites for responsible earthworks, soil and water recovery, ecological restoration, and suitable future uses—potentially including independent homesteads and shared facilities.
Workstreams
- Excavation and earthworks: selective cut and fill, site grading, drainage improvement, utility routing and engineered terrain preparation, only where supported by site studies.
- Reclamation: rehabilitation of disturbed or compacted soils, erosion management, hydrologic function, habitat and appropriate native or productive plantings.
- Reuse: evaluate safe residential development, food growing, natural areas, stormwater functions or shared infrastructure on a site-by-site basis.
- Resident capability: use practical AI and training to support long-term land stewardship, maintenance, water-system care and productive land use.
Due diligence before earthmoving
- Establish legal access and investigate land history, zoning, flood exposure and potential site contamination.
- Commission qualified geotechnical, environmental and drainage work as needed.
- Review excavation needs, soil volumes, erosion/sediment controls, slope stability, environmental safeguards and permits.
- Budget restoration, maintenance, monitoring and non-residential reuse options where residential use would be inappropriate.
- Publish evidence and actual progress separately from concepts when projects advance.
How it joins the community roadmap
Restored land can eventually support rainwater management, agriculture, natural ecosystems, energy infrastructure, workshops and locally skilled neighborhoods. These objectives must be validated rather than assumed. The active 2026 hands-on development phase remains the Sprovik / PAD / Library integration track; excavation and reclamation are feasibility and design priorities, not completed field activity.
